Reusable Nappies - Good for Baby

What's in disposable nappies?

Disposable nappies contain a wide range of chemicals, many of which are highly toxic and should not be going near baby's skin. Chlorine, dioxins, phthalates, fragrances, dyes, super absorbent polymers...to name a few.

With reusable nappies the materials are clear and simple. You know what you're putting on your baby's skin and you can ensure you're comfortable with it. Many materials used in cloth nappies are made with natural fibres such as bamboo or hemp. These materials are also sustainable. Our reusable nappies are made from polyester with PUL (the water-resistant bit), bamboo cotton and hemp cotton. Our inserts are also Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, so you know they're free from any harmful chemicals.

Before choosing between disposable and reusable nappies, do your research so you can make an informed decision.

Do reusable nappies cause nappy rash?

A study conducted by Bristol University found that reusable nappies were no more likely to cause nappy rash than disposable nappies. In my own personal experience, my children have never had nappy rash and they have been in reusable nappies full time since 6 months old (my son) and birth (my daughter). Reusable nappies keep baby's skin dry and irritation free as they have a stay-dry lining which wicks moisture away. Although disposable nappies also keep baby dry, I found they can wick too much moisture away and actually dry out the skin causing irritation.
